This website will tell you if your lake is safe & suitable for swimming and other recreation and if the fish in your lake have been tested for mercury, the primary concern with eating fish from Minnesota lakes. If you can't find your lake, that means the state has not tested it. Also find useful information on how you can help keep Minnesota lakes clean!
The state is required to test every lake in Minnesota to make sure they are suitable for recreation and eating fish. So far, the state has failed to meet this requirement.
Over 100 groups throughtout the Great Lakes Region have joined the Healing Our Waters - Great Lakes Coalition. The HOW Coalition works to restore the health of the Great Lakes, which are essential to the economic and cultural identity of our region.

Legislative- Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR). The LCCMR is made up of 17 members: 5 Senators, 5 Representatives, 5 citizens appointed by the governor, 1 citizen appointed by the Senate, and 1 citizen appointed by the House. The function of the LCCMR (formerly LCMR) is to make funding recommendations to the legislature for special environment and natural resource projects, primarily from the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund. .
Minnesota Center of Environmental Advocacy (MCEA) For almost 30 years MCEA has used law, science and research to protect Minnesota's natural resources, wildlife and public health. They advocate for positive environmental change and protection in the areas of water quality, land use and transportation, wildlife and natural resources, public health and energy.
Minnesota Environmental Fund The fund consists of 17 member organizations (including the Izaak Walton League, Minnesota Division) who work to make our communities better places to live. Funding is provided to state environmentalorganizations through pledges and donations from the community.
The Minnesota Environmental Partnership is a coalition of more than 80 Minnesota environmental and conservation organizations working together to protect and preserve Minnesota's precious natural environment.

Minnesotans for Sustainability The fundamental purpose of the Minnesotans for Sustainability web site is to provide information that will assist in thoughtful reflection and decisions that will encourage a sustainable Minnesota and United States.
