ACTIVITIES:

• Work to get Itasca County forests certified as High Value Conservation Forests by the Forest Stewardship Council
• Plan for the conservation of lands adjacent to lands designated as High Value Conservation Forests
• Watch over five Itasca County natural areas
• Review National Forest management plans and monitor Forest Service activities
• Work on Itasca County water management plan
• Work on the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and the upgrading of lakeshore zoning ordinance
• Work with MNDOT to initiate "Minnesota Big Trees" program - planting long lived trees (trees that grow from 200-400 years) along the outer edges of right of ways
